BSI Becomes First Certification Body (CB) to be Accredited by ANAB Simultaneously for Standards OHSAS 18001, Z10 and Z1000

(Reston, VA – December 21, 2009) BSI Americas announced today that ANAB has extended BSI’s global accreditation to include the Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OHSMS) for standards OHSAS 18001, Z10 for the US, and Z1000 for Canada, making BSI the first CB in North America to be accredited to all three standards. 

Microsoft Windows Live™ ID Secures ISO/IEC 27001:2005 Certification

BSI Expediting Expansion of In Vitro Diagnostic Scope for Medical Devices

The Addition of IVDs will Establish BSI as a Full-Service Notified Body for All Medical Device Categories; Team Lead by IVD Industry Veteran Sue Spencer

RESTON, VA––November 12, 2009––BSI, a world-class Notified Body providing regulatory and quality management reviews and product certification for medical devices, is rapidly implementing plans to expand its medical device Notified Body scope to include in vitro diagnostic (IVD) devices. BSI has appointed Sue Spencer, an IVD industry veteran, to lead what looks to be an early 2010 expansion. Spencer is focusing on the accreditation process along with creating a dynamic team of in-house experts. The new expansion will make BSI a full-service Notified Body supporting all types of devices, including medical, active implantable and IVDs.

DHS Announces Intent To Adopt BSI’S Preparedness Standard

Reston, VA - October 15, 2009 - BS 25999 is a business continuity management standard developed by BSI and is used by businesses globally. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced its intent to adopt BS 25999 (which comes in two parts) on a trial basis as one of three standards for use in the Voluntary Private Sector Preparedness Accreditation and Certification Program (PS-Prep). PS-Prep is directed by Title IX of the Implementing the Recommendations of the 9/11 Commission Act of 2007.
