BSI Launches New In Vitro Diagnostic CE Marking Service

The IVD Extension of  Scope Establishes BSI as a Full-Service Notified Body for All European Medical Device Directives

(Reston, VA.––June 14, 2010) BSI is proud to announce the expansion of its world class Notified Body CE Marking Services to include the In Vitro Diagnostic (IVD) European Directive 98/79/EC. This new extension establishes BSI as a full-service Notified Body supporting all types of devices, encompassing medical, active implantable and now IVDs. BSI has been accredited with a comprehensive scope which includes all In Vitro devices listed in Annex II List A (high risk) and List B (moderate risk) as well as Self Test which are primarily used by lay persons.

Maritime Security Council’s Annual Conference Features BSI’s Dan Purtell

(Reston, VA – June 7, 2010) Dan Purtell, Senior Vice President for BSI’s Supply Chain Security Solutions, will speak on supply chain security at the Maritime Council’s June 16 -17, 2010 event to be held at the Organization of American States.  Entitled “Security of Global Trade and the Economic Impact on the Americas”, Dan joins other experts in supply chain security, including Todd Owen, Executive Director at the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Rear Admiral Kevin Cook from the U.S. Coast Guard and Ambassador Albert Ramdin, Asst. BSI makes the “GRADE” with U.S. Customs and Border Protection

(Reston, VA – March 23, 2010) The Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) program has selected BSI to provide a single-source, web-based intelligence repository that will be readily accessible by the C-TPAT’s Supply Chain Security Specialists (SCSS). This purpose-built solution, termed Global Risk Analysis & Data Evaluation (GRADE), will assist SCSS through a systematic approach of quantifying country risk factors necessary to help make informed decisions on where to conduct international C-TPAT validations.

DHS Announces Intent To Adopt BSI’S Preparedness Standard

Reston, VA - October 15, 2009 - BS 25999 is a business continuity management standard developed by BSI and is used by businesses globally. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced its intent to adopt BS 25999 (which comes in two parts) on a trial basis as one of three standards for use in the Voluntary Private Sector Preparedness Accreditation and Certification Program (PS-Prep). PS-Prep is directed by Title IX of the Implementing the Recommendations of the 9/11 Commission Act of 2007.
