BSI Becomes First Certification Body (CB) to be Accredited by ANAB Simultaneously for Standards OHSAS 18001, Z10 and Z1000

(Reston, VA – December 21, 2009) BSI Americas announced today that ANAB has extended BSI’s global accreditation to include the Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OHSMS) for standards OHSAS 18001, Z10 for the US, and Z1000 for Canada, making BSI the first CB in North America to be accredited to all three standards.

“BSI is committed to bringing best practices to our customers. As the first CB in North America to be accredited by ANAB to these three OHSMS standards, BSI is now able to bring the independent assurance and certification to these health and safety standards that our customers need,” said Todd VanderVen, President of BSI Americas.

Occupational Health and Safety has gained popularity recently as many companies seek to address personnel and workplace safety concerns and reduce the number of incidents.  OHSAS 18001 allows an organization to consistently identify and control its health and safety risks, reduce the potential for accidents, help achieve compliance with government and industry health and safety regulations, and continually improve performance.
